4 Tips to Rebuild Confidence After Moving Abroad

Relocating comes with an overwhelming "to-do" list.


Tasks like choosing a heating company, already tedious in your home country, become far more challenging in a new location where you don’t know the language.


Simple steps—dialing a phone number, navigating a foreign phone tree, or selecting a plan—can double in time and frustration, leaving you emotionally drained and questioning your abilities.


To manage the overwhelm and rebuild confidence, try these four tips:

  1. Take breaks – Take a walk to relieve stress. Drink a coffee, or a cup of tea. Breathe.

  2. Be patient – Remind yourself it’s okay for tasks to take longer – this is normal!

  3. Prioritize – Tackle items step by step, focusing on what’s most urgent.

  4. Celebrate wins – Acknowledge your progress; even the small accomplishments. What you’re doing is tough!
