Loneliness is the feeling we get when our need for social connection isn't met. You may be longing for deep, meaningful friendships. You may want to feel like you belong. You can be surrounded by people and still feel lonely.

As expats, internationals and those who have relocated - making an effort to nurture our relationships will help us to feel less lonely and less isolated. We will be physically and mentally healthier.

The good news is that with effort, you can be on your way to connection and less loneliness! Sometimes making the effort can feel overwhelming or scary. It does take time - that is for sure, and can be hard to put yourself out there- but it will be worth it if you invest the time.

Now, take a minute and think about these questions:

1. Have you ever really thought about loneliness?

2. Do you feel lonely?

3. Do you know someone who might be lonely?

Here are a few you can try that will help you feel less lonely.
